  • About

This recipe is a relic from a childhood spent in my mother’s kitchen. It is a soup enjoyed by the Yorubas in Nigeria, but with my mother’s spin on it. Mummy’s efo is so special, and yet easy to make. I hope you try it!

Origin: Efo riro means “stirred leaf” in the language of the Yoruba people where it originates from, predominant in the western region of Nigeria. Also known as spinach stew, it is usually made with spinach, any meat of your choice, crayfish, stock, and ferment
