  • About

Named for an area near the Cuban city of Santiago de Cuba, the daiquiri became popular after the recipe was introduced in 1909 at the Army and Navy Club in Washington, DC, by a junior medical officer, Lucius W. Johnson. Originally built in a collins glass and stirred, the daiquiri evolved into a shaken drink, but there’s nothing wrong with having this over ice if the weather demands it.
