This pre-Prohibition cocktail first developed at the Detroit Athletic Club is a bumblebee of the bar world: by all calculations, it shouldn’t fly, yet it does. Balanced and herbal, but not too herbal; sweet enough to balance the lime juice, but not too sweet—it makes a great nightcap.
Ingredients
¾ fl oz 20 ml ¾ fl oz 20 ml
Method
Combine the gin, maraschino liqueur, Chartreuse, and lime juice in a shaker.
Add ice, shake hard for 8–10 seconds, and strain into a chilled coupe or cocktail glass. Garnish with the lime wheel.
