This is really a kind of mutated biryani, or more properly an Indonesian biryani, cooked in coconut milk instead of yogurt. In India, biryani is a party dish, meant for a big celebration with a good many people present. On such occasions it is served with a whole convoy of vegetable and meat dishes, the biryani being, as it were, the flagship of the feast. However, it makes a rich and satisfying meal on its own.
