  • 10 yolks of eggs
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • ¾ cup bitter chocolate
  • ¾ cup chopped almonds
  • 1 cup grated wheat bread
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon cloves
  • 1 lemon, (rind, juice of half)
  • A little brandy
  • 10 whites of eggs, to stiff froth


To the beaten yolks add the sugar, beat well, then add the rest of the ingredients in order, and fold in the beaten whites lightly. Bake in two layers with Custard Filling, No. 1, between, and Boiled Chocolate Frosting, No. 2.
