  • 6 yolks, beaten
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon wine or lemon juice
  • 1 cup chocolate, grated
  • 1 cup almonds, blanched and grated
  • Grated rind of ½ lemon
  • ½ cup matzos meal or
  • 1 cup cracker meal
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 6 whites of eggs, beaten stiff
  • 1 teaspoon each cinnamon, allspice and cloves


To the beaten yolks add the sugar and beat well. Mix the dry ingredients; stir all together, adding beaten whites last.

Bake in spring form or in layers, with jelly between. Ice top and sides with Chocolate Frosting.
