Method

Select large juicy blackberries, rinse and place in a saucepan along with the sugar. Cover with a lid and place over low heat. As the fruit heats the juice will flow from the fruit. Bring up to the boil, then simmer gently for about 10 minutes or until the fruit is quite tender. Draw off the heat and pass the fruit and juices from the pan through a sieve to make a purée. Discard the pips remain
