Ingredients

  • ½ pint (3 dl) water
  • rind and juice of 1 lemon

Method

This is a warming drink to serve at a winter party.

Put the water, finely pared lemon rind and juice, grated nutmeg, cinnamon stick, cloves and sugar into a saucepan. Bring slowly up to the boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Infuse gently over low heat for 15 minutes. Strain the liquid and return to the saucepan along with the wine. Reheat but do not Allow to boil.

Serve hot
