This attractive fresh fruit cake comes from Germany. The sharpness of the fruit combines perfectly with the sweet cake mixture.
Top and tail the gooseberries. Wash the fruit and pat dry. For the crumble topping, sift the flour into a mixing basin and add the sugar. Add the butter in pieces and rub into the mixture until fine and crumbly. Set aside while preparing the cake base.
