Ingredients

  • 8 oz (225 g) strong plain flour
  • ½ level teaspoon salt

Method

Sift the flour and salt into a bowl. Add the lard or butter cut in pieces, and rub into the mixture. Blend the fresh yeast, with the warm milk and water. If using dried yeast, stir the sugar into the hand-hot milk and water. Sprinkle in the yeast and set aside in a warm place for 10 minutes, or until frothy.
