  • 1 saltspoon gum tragacanth
  • 2 tablespoons triple-strength rose water
  • small bunch fresh prim

Method

Crystallized primroses can be used to decorate iced cakes; they look particularly pretty on a chocolate cake.

Put the gum tragacanth in a small screw-topped jar and add the rose water. Leave in a warm place for 24 hours. Give the jar an occasional shake until thoroughly dissolved. If the mixture is a little too thick, add extra rose water.
