This is a rather grand recipe for cabbage. If you can get fresh wild mushrooms, so much the better. If not, the flavour of dried wild mushrooms is an important addition and worth the extra money. Dried wild mushrooms are really quite economical, go a long way and keep well. Just one small piece of dried porcini snipped into a soup or casserole immediately enhances the flavour.
