This unusual method of cooking asparagus is one of the quickest ways of serving fresh asparagus as a vegetable. Buy less expensive, thinner green sticks.

Ingredients

  • 450–675 g/1–1⅓ lb fresh asparagus
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil

Method

Wash the asparagus then snap off and discard the woody base of the stalks. Line up several stalks on a cutting board and using a sharp knife cut across the asparagus on the extreme bias making slices about 0.5 cm (¼ in
