Many fruits go well with the milder flavour of cream or cottage cheese and pears are no exception. Choose ripe, juicy pears for this recipe; they make an attractive first course prepared in this way.

  • 175 g/6 oz fresh cream cheese

Peel the pears and slice in half lengthways. Scoop out the cores with a teaspoon and rub the pears over with the cut side of a lemon to prevent them from becoming dark.
