During a tour of Spain by train, my partner and I were repeatedly asked if we wanted ‘chips’ with our meals. We always said no because we assumed the waiting staff were only offering them to us because they thought it was something us Brits might like. However, on one occasion we were given no choice and a big bowl of ‘chips’ was brought to our table. Except these chips were patatas bravas. And we were thrilled.
