The Ultimate Beach Sub

One of the great joys of summer in Brooklyn is hopping on a bus, train, or bike, and in less than an hour, finding yourself on a public beach. The experience is even better if you happen to pick up a few Italian sandwiches on the way (Defonte’s and Brancaccio’s are two of my go-tos). This sandwich is an ode to the Italian tuna sub—full of creamy tuna salad, delicately sliced red onion, hot peppers, and crisp iceberg lettuce tossed with Italian dressing.
