Michael Solomonov’s Coffee-Braised Brisket

This is a three-generation brisket—and it’s been tweaked every time it’s been passed down. Michael’s grandmother made hers with carrots, potatoes, and Heinz chili sauce, which gave it the traditional sweet and sour flavor. Her daughter, Michael’s mother, added coffee for a rich and slightly bitter flavor. Michael’s
