It was sheer luck, not good planning on my part that I arrived in Rarotonga, capital of the Cook Islands, in the third week of November. This is designated as the Tiare (Floral) Festival week.
I proceeded to Avarua, the island township, on my first morning and found flowers everywhere. As I sat in the Cook’s Corner Café, everybody was atwitter. All the women wore circlets of plumeria and hibiscus around their hair. They were clambering up and upon tables and chairs to wind garlands
