I have named this cake after the beautiful old house of a friend who lives in Istanbul on the Asian side of the Bosporus; we have had some magical meals in the waterfront garden of Kibrizli Yalisi. Turkish cakes are often made with semolina, almonds and honey and I devised this recipe to try and epitomise what the best of them can be like. It has turned out particularly well. You can either eat it with tea or coffee or as a pudding with yogurt.
