When I was bumping through Java on a bus, increasingly hot and sticky, I used to revive myself with the little snacks bought from roadside stalls wherever we stopped on the way. Far Eastern ‘finger foods’ can be excellent. A lot of them, mostly sweet but some savoury, were made with sticky rice, as its stickiness makes it so convenient to wrap up, stuff and eat in your fingers and it has a particular texture which I love.
