Steak au poivre is a popular French bistro dish that has fallen out of fashion; however, it is a savoury dish that I have always enjoyed in my version I like the mixture of five peppercorns, which is much more fragrant than using just one type. The Chinese often find large pieces of beef intimidating, preferring to cut meat into slices and stir-frying it quickly, as in this recipe.
