This cake is served at Epiphany, the ‘Kings’ in its name referring to the Three Kings who followed the star to Bethlehem. For the fève to determine who becomes king or queen of your table you could use a small dried bean, as the Romans did (the name has come down from the Latin for ‘bean’), or the now traditional tiny china figure, or you could just as easily use a coin.
