Slightly tart and perfumy, this cream-beige dessert has a flavor that suggests a medley: coconut, banana, pineapple, grape, and pear—all seem to be part of the act. Don’t expect a very smooth texture, as the consistency of the feijoa is slightly granular, like firm pears.

Ingredients

  • 1 small, very ripe banana
  • About 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1⅓ cups</

Method

  1. Purée banana and 2 tablespoons lime juice in processor or blender until smooth. Add to feijoa purée. Stir in yogurt and heavy cream; add lime juice to taste.
  2. Pour into the cream container of an ice-cream maker and freeze according to the manufacturer’s directions. Pack tightly into a quart container and put in freezer to mellow for a day or so.
