Labneh is a soft and creamy cheese that’s popular in Middle Eastern cookery, and can be spiced with all manner of flavours. It is often served with honey, which I have substituted for golden syrup here; the contrasting sweet and sour tang is a very pleasing one. Dollop it on salads, eat it with flatbreads, or serve as a cooler beside spicy stews.
