These tasty crunchy beans (fresh soya beans in the pod) make a great snack to have with a cold beer. The hardest, but not impossible, part will be finding them (try Chinatown or a Japanese food store). Simply bring a large pan of lightly salted water to the boil, add a handful of pods per person and boil for 4 minutes if frozen, 3½ if not. Drain, toss with lots of flaky salt or soy sauce and eat. The trick is to put the pod in your mouth and pull it out, using your teeth to keep back the beans. You can also pod them, once cooked, as you would broad beans, and toss in a pasta dish or salad.
