As a kid, my favorite restaurant, hands down, was Gino’s East in Chicago. Back then it was in a tiny space that was covered in graffiti. Everything about it was the coolest from a kid’s perspective—you got to stand in a line that wrapped around the corner because it was that exclusive, you could (and were encouraged to) write all over the walls, and you got to eat insane amounts of pizza for dinner.
