Fruit Salad, Amalfi Style

Fruit salad, or macedonia di frutta in Italian, is available in every restaurant and snack bar throughout Amalfi. It’s made using a variety of the best and freshest fruits.

Ingredients

  • 2 apples, cored and cut into bite-size pieces
  • 2 ripe peaches, pitted and cut into bite-size pieces
  • 2 ripe plums, pitted and cut into bite-size pieces
  • 30 cherries, pitted and cut in half
  • 2 tablespoons granulated raw sugar
  • 4 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice (from about 1 lemon)
  • 6 small fresh mint leaves, cut in half lengthwise

Method

Place the cut fruit in a bowl and toss gently to combine. Sprinkle the sugar and lemon juice evenly over the top and scatter the mint leaves over the top. Toss gently to combine. Serve immediately.
