Finding any mushroom is like finding treasure. But it is the cep or penny bun that I prize most highly. Searching the damp moss or concealing grasses or peering beneath the silver birches, on finding them I feel total jubilation. It is obvious why the penny bun has its name, the cap looking like a large, warm, fresh-baked bread roll.
