This is a very delicious but deeply unhealthy sandwich - but who cares. This is real cops-on-stakeout eating-in-car food. If you are worried, neutralize the effect with a dinner of grated carrots, or no dinner at all. Known as the ‘peacemaker’, this really will shut you up once you have finished it.
Preheat the grill to full.
Shuck the oysters and leave to one side in their juice. On a plate, mix together the cornmeal, cayenne pepper and 1 teaspoon salt.
Heat the vegetable oil in a small frying pan. Get it nice and hot, but not smoking. Test the temperature by adding a small pinch of bread, which should frizzle immediately. If not hot
