Choose a stew pan large enough to be able to properly stir the ingredients in the initial stages so they do not tumble out on to the floor and get kicked under the washing machine. Cut the meat into big fat chunks. After washing all the vegetables thoroughly (do not bother to skin them), chop them in a similar fashion to the beef.
