Carefully pick the flower buds so that they are clean and ready to use in the salad. Cut the tomatoes and mushrooms into fine slices. As the broom buds are so colourful I think it is worthwhile making a really decorative arrangement of the ingredients or alternatively they can be mixed together and tossed with dressing as for a normal salad. The broom flowers have an odd, dry, nutty flavour which is a distinctive addition to a salad.
