  • 2 tablespoons butter or fat
  • 1 chopped onion
  • ½ cup uncooked brown rice
  • 1 cup water or stock
  • cups cooked diced meat
  • 1 bud garlic
  • 1 cup tomatoes, cooked or fresh
  • 1 tablespoon horseradish (optional)
  • salt, pepper, any desired herbs


Cook the butter, onion, and rice in a heavy skillet until brown, turning often. Add the rest of the ingredients, mix thoroughly, and cover the skillet tightly. As soon as it steams, turn the fire very low, and cook for about 20 minutes or until done.
