These super-crunchy, deep-fried dough sticks, sprinkled with sugar, and often served with hot chocolate for dipping are hugely popular in Spain as well as in Mexico and South America. The word ‘churros’ comes from a Spanish breed of sheep whose horns are similar in shape.
