These super-crunchy, deep-fried dough sticks, sprinkled with sugar, and often served with hot chocolate for dipping are hugely popular in Spain as well as in Mexico and South America. Each region has its own slight take on Churros -whether it’s in the shape and thickness of the dough or whether it’s filled with fruit, chocolate or custard (as in Cuba or Brazil). The word ‘churros’ comes from a Spanish breed of sheep whose horns are similar in shape.
