Sir David Attenborough once told me not to name drop, but I have to mention the time when Sheila Dillon came here to record for Radio 4’s Food Programme, as Martin Crawford (the forest garden expert, also here for the recording) made a delicious snack with early perennials from the garden. This is my variation, using asparagus instead of his bamboo shoots, and chervil to lend a little extra sweet, gentle aniseed. By all means use chard, spinach or Mexican tree spinach in place of the Good K
