Butternut

Butternut is one of the few squash that can be peeled with a veg peeler. It also has the highest proportion of edible flesh to seed and cavity and a clean, creamy taste. The flip side is that it is a poor keeper, lasting 1–3 months, particularly when grown in the UK, where it is hard to get it fully ripe.
