Other names for the four-angled bean are asparagus bean, asparagus pea, winged bean, frilly bean, manilla bean, Goa bean, Mauritius bean and princess pea. In Malaysia, it is known as kacang botol. The pods of the bean are very decorative, with four serrated edges and tiny seeds contained inside a central rib’ They are generally green, but they may also be pink, purple or red. In Asian cooking, four-angled beans are usually stir-fried or added to salads.
