Crumbles and crisps are very similar in style to a cobbler, the only difference being the topping. A traditional streusel topping is used for a crumble, while an oat streusel or nut streusel topping is used for a crisp. These streusel toppings are sprinkled over a fruit filling, and just like with a cobbler, there is no base crust.
