I use thin cake card, cake board (stronger and thicker) and cake drums (give height and even more strength) to support cakes. Sometimes I cut a cake card to shape under a cake to make it easier to move the cake. It becomes invisible under the sugarpaste (for instance for the Crocodile Handbag).
