A beautiful kitchen tool that produces a texture like no other. When it comes to crushing garlic, ginger, and many other ingredients, the first thing we reach for is a mortar and pestle. A solid, deep-bowled mortar and pestle will make quick prep of dozens of garlic cloves; the weight of the pestle will do most of the work for you. We tend to shy away from the pretty ceramic ones for most uses; instead we’ll grab one of the stone ones and pound away.
