In Burma, as in other places in the tropics and subtropics, there’s a whole world of amazing sweet fruit for eating. Fruit is a snack and is also “dessert” in Burma, a great way to end a meal. Most of the fruits available in Burma are very seasonal. Some are available only in hot season, others in rainy season, and so on. The fruits include cherimoya (natawza), durian (duyin thi), jackfruit (peinne thi), lychee (hnin thi), mango (thayet thi), mangosteen (mingut thi), papaya (thimbaw), pineapple (nanat thi), rambutan (kyetmauk thi), and watermelon (paye thi).
