  • About

Hoja Santa, or “holy leaf,” is also known as “root beer plant.” The aromatic herb smells somewhat like nutmeg or black pepper with a taste akin to anise or fresh tarragon. The large leaves are sometimes used to wrap tamales, fish, or poultry before cooking.
