  • About
This is a circular steel-mesh strainer attached to a long split-bamboo handle. Strainers come in many sizes, from as small as the average human palm to as large as 14 inches in diameter. For all-purpose use, I prefer one 10 inches in diameter.
The following will complete your Cantonese kitchen:

Oval Dutch oven

Large roasting pan

Frying pan, cast-iron, 10 inches in diameter

Round cake pan

A selection of heatproof, steamproof dishes

Strainer, fine, all-purpose

Rolling pin, heavy hardwood

Cutting board, wood preferred

Wooden spoon

Paring and boning knives

Small utility knife

Dough scraper

Small hand grater

Garlic press

Kitchen shears

Rubber spatula

Cooking thermometer, especially for deep frying

Kitchen scale

Ruler

Cheesecloth
