Chayote, Cho-Cho, Christophene

The Spanish, English and French names for a tropical squash, Sechium edule, originally from Mexico, but now widely grown in tropical regions throughout the world. The skin is rather prickly and there is a single, edible seed. Fresh and canned cho-cho are available from shops selling West Indian produce.
