CULTIVATION A hardy annual, dill has aromatic, feathery, dull-green leaves with clusters of sulphur-yellow flowers from midsummer. Reaching 45cm-1m (18-36in), it prefers fertile, well-drained soil and full sun in a sheltered position. Propagate it by sowing seeds in spring and again in midsummer, thinning the seedlings to 15 cm (6in) apart. Harvest the leaves and flowers whenever they are available.
Grow dill as a garden, border, container and conservatory herb.
