CULTIVATION A hardy biennial with aromatic, bright green leaves that are either curly or flat and trifoliate with flat heads of yellow-green flowers. Reaching 25-45 cm (10-18in), it prefers moist, fertile soil in sun or light shade. Sow seeds outdoors in late spring or, under glass, at any time of year, remembering not to cover the seeds with soil and to thin the plants to 15 cm (6in) apart. Harvest the leaves at any time, the flowers from midsummer. An attractive and useful garden, border, edging, container and conservatory herb.
