Artemisia absinthium, WORMWOOD

Wormwood contains a volatile oil containing thujyl and absinthol, carotene and vitamin C. The herb has been used as a bitter tonic and to expel worms since the time of Dioscorides.

To restore appetite at any time but especially after a bout of flu or other such debilitating illness, see under HOP for a useful mixture. Wormwood should not be used for self-medication, and should not be taken at all during pregnancy.
