How to Shape Baguettes

  • About
  1. First, begin to stretch the dough mass into an oblong shape.

  2. Form the dough into a baguette by shaping it into a sausage.

  3. Fold the sides in toward the middle and press down.

  4. Arrange the loaves on nonstick sheet pans, cover with oiled plastic wrap, and let rise.

  5. Just before baking, make 2 or 3 diagonal slashes across the top of each loaf.
