Watercress is native to Europe and western Asia. The watercress plant is cultivated for its smooth, thick, dark green leaves. The leaves are pungent, bitter, and peppery. Watercress encourages digestion and is a known diuretic. It also contains more vitamin C than an orange, more folate than bananas, more iron than spinach, and more calcium than milk.
