Bose or Beurré Bose

The Bose pear is also known as the Beurré Bose or the Kaiser pear. It is known for its wide base, elongated neck, and crisp, smooth skin. This fruit is grown on the west coast of Canada, in northwestern parts of the United States, in Australia, and in parts of Europe. The Bose usually has a darkish yellow color with a russet blush. The Bose does not change color as it ripens. Bose pears are fragrant and sweet and are sometimes described as being slightly spicy. This pear is an excellent fruit to use in baking, grilling, poaching, and eating out of hand.
